I'm interested in studying more about the Russian Civil War. Does anyone know of any scholarly online resources on this conflict and its origins? Any recommended books?
Bruce Lincoln's Red Victory is an excellent starting place, giving an overview of the lead-up, the war, and why the Reds won.
Richard Pipes' Russia Under the Bolshevik Regime also has a good 200 or pages or so on the war, and although Pipes was a determined anti-communist is treatment of the war is I think fairly balanced, and a good counterpoint to many myths about why the Reds won.
