Weeeeell, have you tried, you know, the AskHistorians podcast?:) If anything, that one's unique in both the depth and breadth of topics it covers. You won't find many places (make that any place) where you can listen to a 2 hours of engaging conversation about the Assyrian State Archives, whereas you'll find plenty of stuff painting Assyrians in their ancient supervillain role as the oldest civilization comprised entirely of literally Hitlers (I like Carlin, but I am sure he Godwinned Assyrians on more than one occasion). Just a tip;)
Also, and I have not listened to this one yet, so can't really recommend it, but History on Fire is supposedly "Carlinesque" in entertainment, but is done by an actual Italian historian.
BBC Radio 4's "In Our Time" is wonderful. Melvyn Bragg invites on a panel of, usually, university professors, to have an educated introduction discussion about a topic. They're mostly historical or artistic/literary/cultural but he does also do episodes on scientific topics. Huge backlog as well, all free.
