How do you teach history to someone who knows almost nothing?

Hi,

Can you provide a little more information--how old is the child, what are their intellectual capabilities? What access to history museums or beach balls printed like globes do you have? Are you planning to depend entirely on the book/online classes to teach, or are you willing to point to the beach ball globe and say "western Europe generally means this area"?

This information will help our community help you. :)

I agree with all other commentators-- we need more info before we can make recommendations!

BUT, don't get hung up on unfamiliar terms. Children learn language & information about the world in large part by encountering unfamiliar terms used in a context that lets them guess the meaning. Be ready to answer your child's questions about what this or that term means, but don't overthink things!

Also, as a formerly, successfully homeschooled kid, I'd be interested to hear which curriculum you're using!
