Just curious if ancient Egyptians believed the planet rested on something, similar to how the Hindus believed the planet rested on the back of elephants?
Not according to their creation myth, no. There are dozens of iterations of the Egyptian creation myth, but the basic gist of most of them is that the first god (usually Amun or Amun-Re) emerged fully formed out of "nothingness" on the primeval mound, which was the first existence of something distinct from nothingness. I am pretty confident that there is no mention of an Egyptian concept of the Earth's general shape (round, flat, on top of animals) in the literature.
If you want translations of some versions of the myths, Lichtheim's have always been recommended to me by my professors.
