Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
/u/petite-acorn answered How prevalent was drug use/alcoholism for soldiers durr the US civil war?
/u/phefeon answered Perception by Aztecs of Spanish godhood
/u/Sunshine_Bag answered Did Mussolini and the government fix long lasting problems occurring in Italy?
I am having a bit of a crazy week (“Before Christmas? Get outta here!”, I know),but I wouldn’t let that get in the way of finding some of the popular and/or interesting questions from the last week, which did not get an answer yet:
/u/ministry312 would like to know if British people in the 8th century believed that the isle used to be occupied by giants
/u/UnfunnyIndividual asked if there were Muslim minorities in the Christian Iberian Kingdoms in the 11th Century
/u/ForWhomTheBoneBones, inspired by Mary Poppins, asked about the early 20th century etiquette and expectations for single women going out with men
/u/thefourthmaninaboat answered "What happened at Dunkirk" and on "Why didn't the triple entente stage a naval invasion behind the western front in WW1?"
Just so everyone is aware, as in past years we will be holding a "Best of 2016" Contest, but it won't be posted until early January, as to ensure December included!
