Considering how other revolutions were fostered by foreign powers, I was wondering if the unification of Italy was supported by any other nation.
The Austrians and the French were not happy about it, but decided that they were not in a position to do anything about it: it was popular amongst the French people (Napoleon III was the arch-populist) and the Austrians could not afford another war. Britain wasn't interested; Russia was happy with anything that affected Austria and the Prussians wanted to do the same in Germany.
