This is simply a post to thank all r/AskHistorians moderators and contributors for your hard work at keeping discussions on topic and offering thought-provoking insight and content. It must be a lot of work, maybe thankless at times, and I don’t know how much positive feedback you get for doing all this, but I truly think your vigilance and commitment all make this subreddit one of the best, by far, on all of Reddit.
I have been a long-time lurker around here and I'm often drawn to this subreddit whenever I want to branch out of my field of expertise. As an historian (my field is 20th century Quebec political History), it warms my heart to see so many different experts give such insightful questions and articulate, thorough answers, with a real passion for their knowledge and solid, credible sources. Amazing as it may be, it’s hard to find a place today, even in academic contexts, where serious discussions about history can be had without them degenerating into a hodgepodge of clichés, flamewars or claims so ridiculous but so widely circulated that they become truth in the popular mind (sometimes because they are simply never disproven, or sometimes because people simply prefer an entertaining but false version of history to the truth).
So thank you again for offering us this quality of discussion/content. You’re the best!
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of time and effort you folks put into your answers. As a non historian, due in no small part to the mod team, I learn something new here literally everyday. The willingness of everyone to volunteer what is a hard earned body of knowledge facilitates such great conversation and discovery for the rest of us. It's awesome.
Thank you for your efforts, everyone.
This place remains one of the few areas of reddit that I can recommend to friends / family without being terrified of what they might find. I'm just a lurker, but I really appreciate having a place where I can learn. Strict and vigorous moderation, I feel, is the main reason that this subreddit has retained its reputation for high quality content.
Thank you mods and contributors, for bringing me joy throughout the years!
I am an avid reader here and sporadic poster. While I am a much better self-editor now, overall I've seen perhaps a quarter of my posts/replies taken down over quality issues. While it was always painful and personal (I only posted on things that I felt I could honestly contribute to), looking back the actions of the mods were justified and drove me to be better in my contributions here.
I know that being a mod here is a lot of work, but it's important that the team knows their efforts are appreciated... even by some of those you've taken down.
As much more of a reader than contributor (seriously, do we HAVE to work for living, like, come on), I must say that I am seriously thankful and in awe of the work people put in making this place so great. Any by great I mean the best. I don't come from any other corner of the Internet (or any corner, really) with as much knowledge and joy, as I do by coming here.
This might be a low-effort comment, but I were honestly thinking about writing something similar, though just a message to the mods. They really do great work.

Just kidding - thanks for keeping this a quality sub - probably the preeminent high quality sub on reddit.
Chiming in with my thanks as well. It's a world apart from most of Reddit and that's a good thing. As has been said, the strict enforcement of rules and quality contributors is what makes this subreddit so special and I hope that doesn't ever change.
Yea, thanks to the mods for keeping this place great.
