I am really fascinated with the Gauls and would like to know more. But I could find only little information when googling. I am not looking for facts and dates, I am looking for details on Gallic culture. Their food, music and art to be specific. Specifically, during the time of Vercingetorix.
Does anyone know any books or scholarly papers on the matter?
Julius Cesar wrote his "Commentaries on the Gallic War" and covers his campaign in Gaul. This includes his campaign against the coalition of different tribes lead by Vercingetorix. He details a bit about the The people living in Gaul during this time. He provides a contemporary (though biased) view of them from that period. However it ends up being primarily a propaganda piece for his military accomplishments, intended for readers back in Rome. It may not be quite as in depth as you are hoping for. Still, might be worth checking out.
