My question is pretty much what the title says. The ancestor I have in mind is possibly at least partly historically relevant. I've recently moved to England and learning about some ancestors and history while here has added some new interest and intrigue to my family's history.
There is /r/genealogy. It's not really equivalent to this sub, since it's not a question-and-answer sub (although you can certainly ask for help), nor does it have an academic or "expert" bent, but they're a helpful and resourceful group of genealogy enthusiasts.
