Did the United States have a plan should they have lost the Second World War?

What did "losing the war" mean in practice for the US, was it basically Europe becoming German? And whatever "losing the war" meant, did the US have a plan for what to do then?

Follow up questions: if the US had started losing ground on the pacific side, would they have pulled (some) forces back out of Europe to protect the Western Coast?

In a similar vein, how far did Japan want to go against the US? I apologize if this is out of place, I am not familiar with the pacific campaign at all.
