I know this is a LOT of information, but is there a book on the whole human history that has the beginning of Homo Sapiens in Africa(?) to the stone age and all ultimately the way up to present?
Kind of like this: http://humanhistorytimeline.com/ but in more detail
I guess it really depends on how detailed you're looking for. I've recently read 'Global History: A Short Overview' by Noel Cowen. Which portrays the increase in complexity of civilizations and between civilizations, from the first human until now.
But as it name implies, it's rather short. About twohundred pages. It also mostly focuses on what it sees as the 'major civilizations'(mostly Eurasia and Mesoamerica) and ignores large parts of the rest of he world. It also tries to proof a certain catchall system for the rise and fall of civilizations, which I personaly find to generic.
Still, it was an interesting read and you might enjoy it. It's short so not a huge loss if it turns out you don't like it.
