I know that the world was a different place a long time ago. I have been reading the bible but a few things (non-religious) don't make scene. One example of this was when Israel was near Mt. Sinai, Moses destroyed a false god, burned it, then threw its ashes into a brook. However, to my knowledge there are no flowing rivers or brooks or streams in the entire Sinai peninsula. Was the Levant/ Middle East wetter back then? I know the earth was still warming after the last ice age too, were sea levels lower back then, meaning that the bible could be referencing landmasses or bodies of water that no longer exist?
I assume you're talking about Deuteronomy 9:21?
And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made... and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
The Hebrew word used here, נַחַל (nachal), can refer to the valleys in the desert which turn into rushing rivers in times of heavy rainfall. There're definitely a lot of these in the Sinai Peninsula and the surrounding region, usually referred to by the Arabic word wadi.
Also, the wadis around the mountain actually could've been wet at the time, too. There are several springs around Mt. Sinai, which currently help supply the town of Saint Catherine at the mountain's foot.
