So I was reading about the Blue House raid in South Korea in the '60s, and wondered when the last time something like that worked. Specifically asking about an assassination of a head of state or government that was directly sponsored by a foreign power.
Not counting assassinations carried out by individuals or groups that weren't sponsored by a foreign power like JFK, or revolutions and civil wars. I know lots of proxy wars have overthrown and killed leaders, but not counting those.
How could we possibly know that? Isn't a successful assassination one when no one knows that it was one, because the target had a car accident or a heart attack?
Firstly, this is going to be unanswerable because such an assassination would stay classified for decades. Also, an accurate answer could very well break the 20 year rule(though we don't, because we don't know).
