Can't remember what event this was and need some help...

I remember learning of a Parisian uprising (I believe in the 1800s after the French Revolution but I'm not sure) where Napoleon's army - or maybe someone else - killed a lot of Parisians, like over 10,000 I believe, who barricaded themselves in the city supposing his army because they were starving...there's a monument outside of a cemetery that's a black wall with people emerging through it... does anyone know what I'm talking about???

Could you be thinking of the Paris Commune and the Communards' Wall?
