Whilst researching Srebrenica and the aftermath during my history degree I always found the location of the Dayton Accords quite interesting and wondered whether similar accords were formed in the USA concerning foreign issues.
Yes from time to time other US Presidents have stepped in to help or offered to mediate conflicts and held negotiations in the US.
However the most notable occasion came in 1905 when Teddy Roosevelt offered to and was able to host the Peace Conference which brought an end to the Russo-Japanese War. In part a bit self serving to keep Japan from gaining even more from a badly beaten Russia, while also keeping the war from spiraling even further into the Russian Far East. It also allowed something of the balance of power in the Far East to be maintained while acknowledging Japan's continued ascendency while it brought a conclusion before the strain of war took too large an effect in Japan or allowed a further breakdown in Tsarist authority in Russia.
The talks were held at the Portsmouth Navy Yard on the border between New Hampshire and Maine in August of 1905 with the then signed Treaty of Portsmouth formally ending the war, and earning TR the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906.
