What is this WWI Stoormtrooper's Weapon?

by Epicsnailman

I found this picture online, and after doing some research, I can't determine what weapon the leftmost soldiers are carrying. I was wondering if anyone could identify it, or had any leads as to what it might be.

First of all, it should be pointed out that these aren't actual German stormtroopers. In fact, they're American soldiers wearing captured armor and equipment! (notice the fact that the soldier in the far left actually has a hole in his Stahlhelm). The soldiers in question are equipped with a Chauchat CSRG M1918. The Model 1918 (a modification of the original French 1915 model) was a light machine gun chambered for the .30-06 Springfield cartridge and meant to be used by the American Expeditionary Force. The shape of the magazine that the far left soldier has in his Chauchat gives it away as an M1918. Here's another photograph I found of what appears to be the same soldiers.
