Which side were the Balkan terrorists supporting. (mic) [European History]

What were their goals? I ask because I'm unfamilliar with this faction in the game and I'd like to know where they drew inspiration for this faction. http://counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Balkan

This resembles Cod 4, Russian nationalist with Muslim names. Probably a combination influenced by war veterans, no such thing as described here ever existed.

Balkan nationalistic groups basically. During ww2 in former Yugoslavia you had the croat fascistic Ustaša organization/party, serbian royalist nationalistic Četnici organization, communist partisans, bosnian-muslim militia. After the war the government, representing all major groups tried their best to control the country but it failed. It was when Tito, leader of the partisans, took control it started to calm down and he successfully united the country. When he died the nationalistic and religious spirit within the different groups started to rise again. But this time it was mostly talks about religion. Catholicism, Islam and orthodox christianity, mixed with the wish of independence. In order to fuel the conflict and to gain more support by the people they turned to history and used awoke the old nationalistic groups. The "elite" serbian warbands called themselves Četnik. The Ustaša did not have the same awakening as the Četnici, and by most croats that name is bad. It is not associated with pride. But some ultranationalists did go by that name and committed atrocities during the bosnian war in the 90's. Mainly against serbian population. The Četniks commited warcrimes against bosnian muslims, croats and everybody that got in their way. (Later even albanians). On the bosnian muslim side, the Mujaheddin (holy warriors), were fighting against serbs and used many of the same methods as the serbs did, in ways of torture and murdering civilians. No concentration camps like the serbs. During this war, you had the serbian army, the croatian army and the bosnian militia. They all did bad things, and in addition you had the "elite warrios" like Četnici, Ustaša and Mujaheddin that was fighting alongside the armies but also a different war. Extermination and genocide.

Regarding about the names I read above: Bosnian names are Slavic names with a muslim twist like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Nesim Tahirovic, Safet Zec, Asim Kurjak, Mahmut Bajraktarevic The serbian names are more russian influenced like Nikola Tesla, Novak Djokovic, Vlade Divac, Mila Jovovic. The croat names have a more latin twist like Julije Kempf, Dominik Mandic, Franjo Racki, Marcel Kiepach, Mario Puratic, Giovanni Luppis. But ofc the naming is not a rule and you can find muslim influenced names in croatia and serbia and vice versa. And since organized crime is a major factor in especially serbia and bosnia, that too has added some influence to the "balkan terrorist". Sadly to say but the balkans are one of the most war torn areas in this world. I am from there and it is sad to read and write about all the atrocities that have taken place there over the centuries.
