Can anyone help me locate historiography related to the Journal of Race Development 1910-1919

by chrisjones92

I'm writing my Master's thesis on the journal, but so far my historiography is a little light, with only two authors (Robert Vitalis and Jessica Blatt) and I can't for the life of me seem to locate anything else that discusses the journal itself in any great depth. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong subreddit, but I am getting desperate.

When in doubt, look more closely at the sources. I can see a few possible routes to explore:

  1. The Journal was published out of Clark University, and you know the names of various people that published articles in it, so those would be logical places to start - take a gander at the life and work of the editor(s), see if the University has any relevant materials, if the contributors were connected in any way, etc.

  2. You could also email Blatt or Vitalis and ask if they have any additional resources or insight; we all stand on the shoulders of giants.

  3. A quick gander at Google Scholar suggests several academic articles and essays cite the Journal of Race Development; you might dig through those and see who cited the Journal during its heyday and what is overall academic influence was.

A good bit of historiography is collecting a lot of little details and trying to put them together to get a fuller picture of whatever you're researching, so while some of these steps are tedious, they're often necessary.

Hello there. Your question seems to be related to school work, so we just want to remind you, and any potential respondents, that our rules DO permit people to ask for help with their homework, so long as they are seeking clarification or resources, rather than the answer itself. This policy is further explained in this META Thread.

Additionally, while our users may be able to help you out here, we hope that you also will take the time to check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which should hopefully prove to be helpful for you as you continue in your research.
