What happened to the German people after World War 2?

Your question is a little vague, but I am assuming you mean right after the war ended. Directly after the war most Germans lived in poverty, especially those who had connections to the Nazi party. Those who were former party members would not have been able to find work and would have had to go through a "de-Nazification" process. John Rabe, mainly known for his work during the Rape of Nanking, lived jobless and on the brink of starvation in the British zone of Berlin after the war. He and his family were destitute because he had spent all of his money covering his legal fees to be "de-Nazified" so he could be allowed to work. They also had to survive, at one point, on seeds they could forage for. They eventually would receive care packages full of food from the citizens of Nanking, China and that was how they were able to survive. Life in post-war Germany was in general very hard for the people who lived there. Also keep in mind that Germany had been split in half and Berlin was made of several occupied zones. The scope of my knowledge is limited to the Allied areas of Berlin.
