I just finished reading the Phryne Fisher novels which are set in the late 1920s in Melbourne Australia. Several things are described as being Jazz colored, including bed linens, wallpaper, and a scarf. Was Jazz a real color? Could someone find it at a fabric or paint store? Thanks.
To add an extra detail to the original question, the author's website has a glossary where "Jazz Coloured" is defined as "pink, black and silver, green, black and gold. Usually in stripes."
I'm also curious as to why that combination of colours would be referred to as "Jazz"!
I'm currently reading them and haven't noticed that (yet). As a follow up question, can anyone comment on how historically accurate they are, in terms of life style / what Australia was like?
