How accurate is the label ‘World War’ when describing the First World War?

Absolutely appropriate, I don't think you will find a serious complaint about it.

Considering the war stretched to places like Tsingtao China, Coronel Chile and the Falklands, Penang Malaya, German South-West Africa, the Middle East, and from the shores of America, to the Steppes of Russia.

It was a war fought by global empires on a truly interconnected global scale with men from every continent, and bloodshed on each as well.
