Hello, During my historic research I frequently need to look at old newspapers (in my case its British, 1900-1950) Can anybody recommend here what is the best online archive to use? is there any one archive that holds all of them together maybe?
Thank You!
The best database product for your needs is probably Gale-Cengage British Newspapers Parts iii through v. This is a "specialty" library product and not every library buys it, but an academic library that supports a bigger history program should have it. /u/Kitarn's suggestion of Proquest is also good, because more libraries can afford Proquest products compared to G-C! Gale-Cengage has kinda cornered the market on historical books and newspapers though, all the best products are under their mafia. Anyway punch your zip into this and it should tell you the nearest academic library to you that subscribes.
ProQuest includes many of the major British newspapers in the period you'll be looking at. I would also suggest taking a look at this Wikipedia page. ProQuest and many of the archives in the second link aren't freely available, but there's a big chance your university has a subscription (or may be willing to get one).
