Why does Germany exist in present day?
I wondering why the name "Germany" was still used after being reestablished. I understand why the Allies didn't keep Germany I guess. A little confused on that but after everything that had happened I wouldn't have thought Germany would have existed at least not in that sense.
This question may be confusing.
I'm not sure what your question is. But I'll attempt to answer. There were competing plans for post war Germany, some had them totally carved up into little states, some into regions of control, and the one that we got. Learning from the Treaty of Versailles Allied leaders wanted to purge Germany of its militaristic ideals once and for all, and ripping apart the country, and renaming it wouldn't help. In a sense the average German was viewed as a victim of Nazism. Also you have to realize that Communism was sweeping across Europe in the form of angry Russians and Allied leaders needed a stable Germany to prevent another state from collapsing into a Communist mess.
Yeah true. I get the Germany people we're considered victims of Nazism.
What was the main reason for the Allies not remaining in control? Where the Germanys completely opposed to living under any allied government?
