Can anyone give me a little background information on this inherited letter home during WW I?

It dates from 1919, but I believe WW I was over in 1918, so I'm not sure what my ancestor was doing over there at that point in time or whether he was involved in the actual war.

I apologize for these images being hard to read. If you zoom in, you'll find them quite legible, but I've been unable to make out a fair number of words.

The background is that this was a letter home to my great grandmother from her brother. He would have lived in the panhandle of Florida or perhaps mid-eastern Alabama before going off to war.

Thanks so much!

I read some of it, really interesting stuff! Well he doesn't seem to be one of the Americans who were sent as an occupying force into Germany, but instead had to stick around France. He keeps referring to "Frogs" and "Froggies", he is referring to French people. So my best guess is that he was just waiting around to be shipped back home.
