Are there any academic works on Finnish sniper Simo Hayha?

Not really.

There are some biographies, and while reasonably good, they're not what I'd call "academic" works. The closest to one is Häyhä's short biography in Finnish National Biographies series, written by docent Risto Marjomaa from University of Helsinki.

Most Häyhä biographies are in general reasonably accurate at least as far as they discuss pre-war and post-war events, but Marjomaa (and others who have actually gone through the records and have contextual knowledge to do proper source criticism) believe that the kill score usually attributed to Häyhä - 542 sniper kills - is almost certainly inflated, and that while no entirely reliable count exists, a more probable score would be 200+.
