[Autocracy] How much resistance did Hitler (and other similarly-situated autocrats of that era) face when they first took office?

I've heard that he wasn't actually democratically elected, that it was all back-room dealings. So I have to assume most people weren't crazy about him. I know even less about Mussolini, Stalin, etc.

Super interested to know how/if people resisted these leaders right when then first came to power!
