Is it accurate to call the Taiping Rebellion a Civil War?

Piggybacking off of this, why isn't the Warlord Era considered a "civil war" given the nature of the conflict? Does this have something to do with the historiography that views events of the 20th century as being primarily a struggle between communism and nationalism/non-communism?
