Did Stalin consider himself a fascist and what were his views on fascism?

by GridSquid

I was reading this article https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/primate-diaries/stalins-ape-man-superwarriors/and came across this paragraph:

"In a telling example of the political divisions Ivanov became caught up in, Cambridge historian Martin Richards describes how Muller, one of Ivanov's supporters, sent a letter to Stalin advocating a positive eugenic program. However, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Lysenko and his followers had warned Stalin that genetic research would lead to eugenics as well as fascism and, now, Stalin was convinced. Muller was forced to flee Moscow for fear of being arrested and, days later, received word that several of his colleagues were shot as “enemies of the people.”

This, to me, implies that fascism was something Stalin detested and didn't want in the Soviet Union, however my previous knowledge of Soviet Union lead me to believe that the Soviet Union under Stalin was very totalitarian and fascist. Am I misinformed about the Soviet Union? Was Stalin's intentions different from the reality he created in the Soviet Union?

Stalin was the Secretary General of the Communist Party. Fascists were the sworn enemy of Communists. This can be seen in the Spanish Civil war of 1936 to 1939. It was also shown by the hand lettered message Woody Guthrie wrote on his guitar. "This machine kills fascists". Leftists and right wing parties both used totalitarian methods, but they used each other as the enemy they needed to consolidate their own power.

Relevations

It may seem tempting to conflate the term fascism and communism because of their similar totalitarian nature, but please don't.

It also seems to me that the resources and industry is all controlled by the government.

This isn't a feature of fascism, but rather communism. The only thing that can be remotely construed as 'fascistic' is perhaps Stalin's dictatorial nature, but this is a common feature in 20th century communist leadership as well.
