What exactly are Lichtenstein, San Marino, Andorra, Faroe Islands and even Luxembourg? I assume they are tax havens or some sort of loopholes for their parent countries.

Hi there, you may be interested in our FAQ section on the microstates. I would just add that the Faroes are a bit different than the other nations you mentioned, as they are a self-governing nation within the kingdom of Denmark (the analogy might be to Native American tribes in the U.S.).
