Books about pre WW1 Austria Hungary and Serbia

by SerStupid

Mostly looking for books that discuss whether or not the Austro-Hungarian empire was collapsing, how it handled growing nationalism and any books about Serbian Nationalism in the long 19th century

Quotenkome

I din't know too many books on Serbia from this time, so I will just give you some on the K&K empire:

-Lindström, Frederik, Empire and Identity: Biographies of the Austrian State Problem in the Late Habsburg Empire, West Lafayette, 2008.

  • Mason, John W., The Dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire1867-1918, London, 1997.

Nota book but an article:

-Roháč, Dalibor, Why did theAustro-Hungarian Empire collapse? A public choice perspective, in: Constitutional Political Economy, 2009, Volume 20(2), pp. 160-176.

P.S.: I'm not at home but I can add more when I am at home. Also let me know if you speak german; there is obviously a ton of literature on those topics in german.

If you really want to delve deeper into the topic, I would recommend getting an overview on how the empire was working and especially the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867. This is a very important event because Hungary got their Compromise, whilst others kept on fighting for theirs.
