With food shortages and rationing, what was the availability of dog and cat food? I'm interested particularly in urban dwellers, as rural/farmers likely had more locally provided sources of food for their pets.
Either info on Axis or Allies would be interesting, but as stated before, especially near the end of the war with bombed out areas and severe infrastructure damage, did that hamper the availability of food sources for especially pets?
Thanks for any insight.
Hopefully this comment will be allowed, but I wanted to clarify what I was saying. First, I am aware, especially in Great Britain there was a move to try to get people to euthanize their animals so that they wouldn't suffer from starvation, and I'm aware that many pet owners did unfortunately chose this route.
But not all did. Of those pet owners that refused, how did they accommodate for their pet's provisions? If food was tight for the people, surely as well pet food would be just as short.
Thanks.
