As far as I know, they mean the same thing. Arguably the word "breastplate" refers only to the front half of a cuirass, which usually consists of two fitted plates hinged at the shoulder and clasped together at the sides. But in less precise usage the terms are used interchangeably. The word "corslet", less commonly used nowadays, also means the same thing.
