How different was the life of a Muslim woman under mughal rule compared to our present times?

by mvresh

I've been reading about Shah Jahan's eldest daughter and women during that time and it seemed that Muslims during that time were overall progressive compared to the muslim dominant countries of our present time. Can one assume so?What about other Islam empires of that time?

When you say present times there is a huge amount of difference between the current "Muslim dominant countries". You should ideally be more specific, do you want a comparison to the not progressive ones like Saudi Arabia or the somewhat more progressive ones like Turkey or Indonesia? Or India, given that's where the Mughal Empire was based and it has more Muslims than any other country?

Hey, everyone,

This is your periodic reminder that AskHistorians is a subreddit about history. Your answers should focus primarily on women's lives and status in the Mughal Empire. It is fine to talk about certain topics with a framework of reference to different situations in Central Asia (as specified by OP) today, but AskHistorians is not the place for lectures about the modern world.

Thanks!
