Did Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, or Abraham Lincoln have disputes with the media of the day?

Trump, during his first rally for the 2020 election, claimed that Jefferson, Jackson, and Lincoln specifically had disputes with the media and 'put them in their place'. Is this true in any way?

But part of the Adams administration's Alien and Sedition acts allowed for the imprisonment of those who were critical of the Federal government, this lead to the imprisonment of a number of prominent Republican Newspaper editors and even one Republican member of the house of Representatives. Jefferson had a rather infamous feud with James Callender, Callender a one time Jefferson ally was angry over not receiving a federal position after Jefferson's election and published numerous attacks on Jefferson's cgaracter most famously his affair with a slave. Newspapers of the time were heavily partisan and often received patronage from a political party or political figure, a change in the political winds or loss of office could translate into a loss of patronage
