How was Hanover governed during the personal union with Great Britain?

by Tsorovar

How much direct involvement did the king have in making decisions, large and small? What influence, if any, did the British government have?

The Electorate of Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Hannover was governed on a daily basis by the Privy Council of Hanover, which was comprised of local nobility and the role of the Elector in day to day governance was limited once George Louis acceded to the British throne and moved to the Palace of St James in London. Most of the contact that the Hanoverian monarchs of Britain had with the Electorate was via German Chancery (Die Deutsche Kanzlei) in London.
