Well, in the late 19th century we see support for democracy rise, especially in the German Empire where you already had political parties and everything. Like the SPD arguing for more Democracy. But obviously there were also parties that were conservative and supported the monarchy. What arguments did they have that they preferred a monarchy over a democracy? Was it mostly aristocrats and rich people being in favor of a monarchy or also normal working people?
To clarify, are you asking about arguments marshaled in support of absolute, or executively empowered, monarchies? Or for arguments supporting monarchies period (vs. republican, etc. sentiment)?
