Sword in question. Would it have any additional metal/wood pieces, or would it be used as is?

You might post this to r/swords who have more direct knowledge of these sort of things. That said, it doesn't look like a Roman gladius or spatha. The whole grip and guard looks like it was cast from metal, normally those are made of wood or bone, sometimes wrapped in leather, cord or wire - the organic bits of which tend to decompose and leave the bare tang, but this is completely intact.

Could you give some more information about it? Where did you get/see this? Are there any distinguishing marks/inscriptions?
