How accurate is the film 'The Last Samurai' in depicting Japan's transition from a feudal society to an industrialised one?

Additional question: In the film, it showed only American advisors assisting Japan. Is there any examples of European assistance and their contribution?

A follow up question, if it's alright, how accurate is the History Buff review on the movie? Are his videos generally accurate?

While the US as the country who forced open trade with Japan was definitely involved, Japan welcomed advisors from France, England, and Germany as well.

The film is a bit of combination of the Satsuma rebellion and the Boshin war. In the latter, the French trained the Shogun's forces until they lost to the Emperor's British and American trained army.
