I've read a lot on Kennedy, and many books make the claim that he had regular affairs while in office (see Thurston Clarke's 'JFK's last hundred days' or C. David Heymann's 'RFK'). however I have never seen any tangible proof offered. the most such books can provide is a claim, or supposed testimony from someone who claims to know of it, or many documentaries simply state that the press new of his affairs, but I am yet to see any convincing proof. could you enlighten me?
In 1999 Seymour Hersh wrote a book called The Dark Side of Camelot in which he details Kennedy's extramarital affairs. There were reports that women were being brought into The White House mainly at night when Mrs. Kennedy was out of town. The Secret Service worried about this because of the concern that the Russians would use this as an opportunity to send in a spy under the guise of a prostitute. There are also reports that Kennedy suffered from multiple STDs exacerbated by his Addison's Disease. In one particular instance, Kennedy and some of the men in his inside circle were having a naked pool party in the White House pool when Mrs. Kennedy unexpectedly came back early and nearly caught her husband. There's also rumors that Joseph Kennedy, John's father, talked her out of leaving John back in the 1950s because it wouldn't have looked good for his career, but I'm not sure about that idea. But it is well understood that John F. Kennedy had extramarital affairs.
