What was the name of the age when there were no major civilizations like Greece, Egypt or Rome but there were already people settled in? In other words, before the big empires. Also how were life and culture in those times?
And no, it's not for homework.
I think you mean the Neolithic period?
The three-age system is traditionally Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. These are just rough categories used by archaeologists to date layers based on the types of artifacts found. This isn't to imply that you can point to any site and expect to find artifacts from each. I worked on a dig where we found 20th century stuff on the top layer, 18th century stuff a couple inches down, and neolithic stuff less than six inches below that. And not much else in between but dirt.
Anyway, the neolithic period is basically when the agricultural revolution happened. I think that's the term you're after.
