How long did feudalism last in Europe?

by ignoculture

I know it's hard to give specific time periods. I'm trying to understand if capitalism has lasted (so far) longer than feudalism in Europe. In The Communist Manifesto it is explained how the history is a struggle of classes and due to this conflict bourgeoisie replaced feudalism with capitalism. I wonder how long did capitalism last (so far) compared to other economical systems.

Feudalism and monarchical rule occurred during medieval times (9th century to 15th century). By the time of the French Revolution, elements of feudalism still existed, but we're starting to whither away as a result of the enlightenment. Capitalism and republican government is a result of of this enlightenment period. Marx was making the point that capitalism came about by removing the old guard, the monarchies and feudal system via revolutions that installed republics. Capitalism in general is a very new concept. Humans have not lived under this system for most of our existence.
