What place did music have on East Asian battlefields pre 1800?

by DBHT14

So music, at least in the form of drums and basic horns, has been part of the equation almost as long as humanity has found reasons to fight. It helps coordination, flow of information, and even esprit de corps.

But I also recognize that much of the popular conception of martial music(and mine as well) is an almost exclusively Eurocentric one, with some room carved out for Ottoman contributions.

But what about the Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or other SE Asian battlefields?
