Request: White Rose Movement Phone or Video Interview

by whiterosescholar

Hi /r/AskHistorians! I'm currently a high school junior working on a historical documentary focusing on the White Rose Movement and its impacts on society for National History Day (NHD). My teammates and I are very interested in the White Rose Society because of their attempts at creating an intellectual revolution among Nazis and fellow Germans. The theme for this year’s National History Fair is “Taking a Stand in History”, and we thought that the White Rose was more than fitting.

We were wondering if we would be able to interview any professor that has knowledge over the White Rose to include in the documentary. We would also love a phone or video interview to learn more about the White Rose resistance movement in general. We hope that the interview would be able to be conducted through Skype, as a video interview would be perfect for a documentary; however, we are open to other ideas if Skype isn’t feasible. Overall, we would love the opportunity to talk and learn more about a topic that we hope will continue to inspire generations in the future.

Please PM me if there is a professor that would be interested or if you want more information. Our group would be more than happy to meet them beforehand in order to introduce ourselves and provide further detail on our project. Thank you for your consideration!

Hey guys! I'm one of the team members that's working on this project, and I just wanted to say thanks for having such a great and interactive historian community! It would also be great to just get more insight from experts in Holocaust studies over the impact of the White Rose. I understand that you all may be recording shy, so any information would be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to PM me or u/whiterosescholar if you'd like an interesting discussion over this amazing resistance movement!

Hi, I understand that I am kinda late, but I can help you nonetheless. While I am not a professor, I did study history (before switching to law school) and researched the White Rose. During my research I focused on the childhood of Hans and Sophie School in order to show what caused them to resist and their trial after being discovered. (As far as I know, I am one of only a handful of people in Germany to research the Scholl's childhood.) This research was done almost ten years ago, but I am fairly sure I can still answer the majority of your questions. For details, please feel free to PM me.
