Why do we call it "Ceaser salad" did Julius Caesar really eat it so much that it got named after him?

No relation to Julius Caesar or indeed any classical Roman - the Caesar salad is named after Cesare Cardini, the Italian-born Tijuana restauranteur and hotelier who allegedly developed the recipe during the Prohibition-era Tijuana boom. I say "allegedly" because a number of other people have claimed Cardini lifted the recipe from them, either exactly as he popularized it or in some undeveloped form, eg the "Aviator salad."
