Obviously not anything on the scale of Atlantis, or the like (I would assume?), but has there been any significant influence on a large cohort of people searching for a groundbreaking discovery that would change our view about the past/present/future? Sorry if this has been asked before!
This is just a side question, but since we're talking about ancient texts, I figured to ask it here versus making it a thread: how much about our perception of Roman history would change if all of Livy's Ab Urbe Condita was still intact?
