I'm a soldier in the Roman legion circa 100AD. I just got myself killed in battle. How would word get to my family? Was there any formal system in place to handle casualties?

Follow up question: what if I was wounded instead, how would I be treated/cared for? Was there any pay awarded to disabled soldiers?
