(First, I would like to mention that I wasn't entirely sure where to post this, so if this doesn't fit here, it would be appreciated if you could direct me to a different subreddit.)
Recently, my art teacher assigned us a project to create a representation of a historical mask and create a Prezi about how it was used, what purpose it served, and stories that involve the mask. (He wanted something more in the realm of Iroquois false face masks, ancient African masks, etc., but I was able to convince him to let me do a WWI gas mask, since the topic is a little more familiar to me, and I felt like I could get a higher grade this way.) I've been trying to find information about these masks, and have had a difficult time finding sources.
It's been especially hard finding stories from the war that involve these gas masks. I haven't been able to find any accounts of people that survived a deadly situation due to these gas masks. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could tell me a few facts about these gas masks, because I haven't intensively studied WWI very much at all. Also, if someone could suggest a link, PDF, book, or anything that could help, it'd be much appreciated.
There were a heck of a lot of different gas mask designs during the war, was there one particular design you are talking about?
