How does England's navy today compare to the prestigious and renown navy they had during the Napoleonic era? Are they still the king at sea, how does the quality of their navy compare to other countries today?

To be clear this sub restricts discussion to events at least 20 years in the past for the most part. So 1997 in essence. So while that leaves plenty of room for discussions on how the RN met the post Cold War years and the dividends of peace it isnt helpful for he fleet in 2017.

So if you are interested in the late Cold War(and Falklands!), and immediate post Cold War Royal Navy, Awesome, nut if you want post GWOT and the fleet today and forward this wouldnt be the right sub.

Someone else has also asked this, and there's already an answer posted there that you may find of interest. [edit: fixed time notice from dodgy stamps, sorry]
