I've been combing the internet for interesting cases of murders of preferably common people, but I can't seem to find anything... of course, I could just be looking in the wrong places.
An early example that comes to mind are Cicero's murder trial speeches. Besides his political career Cicero was also a prominent lawyer, and among his cases were four murder trials were he served as the defence. The cases are published in an affordable Penguin volume entitled "Murder Trials by Cicero".
We only have his side of things, and none of his clients were exactly common people, but they are the only extant trial briefs for these sort of cases that we have from this period, and they do provide valauble insight into the proceedings of criminal trials as well as criminal activity in Republican Rome.
An earlier example is the transcript of a murder trial from ancient Mesopotamia from around 1900 B.C., which can be found in Handbook to Life in Ancient Mesopotamia by Stephen Bertman, p. 72., involving three men and a woman plotting the murder of the latters husband.
