I'm writing an argumentative research paper about how religion has helped unify and progress humanity throughout history. Here is my thesis statement:
Because of the fundamental human instinct to form societies with shared beliefs and goals, religion has played an important role in unifying people and creating a base of identity and purpose within individuals from which people, as a whole, can develop more progressive, advanced civilizations.
Could anyone help direct me to resources to support or disprove this claim?
